Western Region BanglaSchool is a not-for-profit organization established in 2006 and incorporated in 2007 under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 Section 7. The school is located in Hoppers Crossing and runs every Sunday for 2.5 hours during each school term. It has no fixed premises yet and presently it is looking for suitable premises in this suburb.
Western Region Bangla School provides an Ethnic Language and Cultural Service, known as the Bangla Language School. To meet expectations of a growing Bangla speaking population as well as to enhance the practice of Bangla language and culture among the young generation, it has been providing Bangla language, cultural and sports services since its establishment. It is one of the four schools in Victoria to teach Bangla language to children aged between 5 to 16 (which is prep to secondary level) for Bangladeshi children.
The staff of Western Region Bangla Language School has created an atmosphere of warmth and friendliness and is extremely proud of open-door policies applied to the school community as well as supported by Western Region community members and the students’ parents. The school believes that the teaching of Bangla language, culture and sports is shared responsibility and works in partnership with parents to promote supportive and caring environment for all Bangladeshi – Australian children.
